when “no” becomes a “yes”

Rana (alias) is 41 years old. She is the mother of one of the beneficiaries in the BLN (Basic Literacy and Numeracy) program at the Mowasat Center and a caregiver participating in the psychosocial support sessions provided by Social Movement in South Lebanon, under the “Back to the Future 6” program. She sets an example of how taking the first step toward joining such sessions can truly make a difference.
After attending just three sessions, she shared: “I used to get very angry. After attending the sessions, I’ve started giving myself more time. I no longer get angry like before, and now I come here to calm myself down when I feel stressed. I’ve started to feel that I belong to a community — because I’m holding a pen, writing down my thoughts, expressing myself, and we’re listening to ideas, methods, and solutions while sharing experiences with one another. We truly hope these sessions will always continue.”
