Building confidence

August 2024

Creating a nurturing environment where children feel safe and valued is essential for their growth and development.

Adam (Alias), a 5-year-old boy, attends Early Childhood Education (ECE) classes at Bqosta Center under the “Back to the Future” project. Initially shy and withdrawn, Adam often came to the center crying and struggled with socializing and adjusting to the classroom routine. To help him feel more secure, his teacher allowed him to select and hold a toy, which eased his anxiety about being away from home. Through consistent verbal reinforcement and encouraging instructions, Adam gradually gained confidence and began participating in group activities.

His parents noticed the positive changes and became more involved, supporting Adam to express himself more at home, too. Now, Adam feels safer and calmer in class, he actively communicates with his peers and cultivates friendships, gradually overcoming his fears and flourishing socially and emotionally.

The “Back to the Future V” program is funded by European Union Humanitarian Aid, and implemented by AVSI Middle East and Terre des Hommes Italy in Lebanon in partnership with Association Nabad for Development, Sawa for Development and Aid, Fraternity Association, Movement Social, and Uspeak, and in collaboration with Bqosta Association, Al Moasat Association, and Phoenix Forum.
